Latin rhythms and hauntingly beautiful songs. Soprano Lucy Creech sings the romantic music of the mid 20th century composor Villa-Lobos, who was born in Rio de Janeiro. The instrumentalists will also perform his colorful pieces that show his love of Brazilian folk music. Those who are familiar with his works will look forward to Lucy's performance of the Bachianas Brasileiras #5. You will also hear tangos of various composers. Instrumentalists: violinist LeeAnne Chenoweth, harpist Laura Logan, and cellist Jim Higgins.
From Puccini to Mancini. Romantic Italian opera arias and songs by Puccini, Verdi and more, and the popular themes of Italian-Ameriacn, Henry Mancini. You'll enjoy the most romantic melodies of old Italy, and recognize the themes of Henry Mancini. He achieved a broad range of emotion in musical styles during his long career of composing, from the touching theme of "The Thornbirds" to the humorous "Pink Panther" theme. Instumentalists: piano by Jill Sprenger, Tenor Scot Cameron, violinist LeeAnne Chenoweth, and cellist Jim Higgins.
